Keep on keeping on

This morning I suited up in my Nike’s, grabbed my mom’s Ipod (because mine is broken) and went for a quick 3 mile jog around my neighborhood. I don’t know how quite to explain it but I love the feel of wind against my face, the new beautiful places you find from exploring different routes, pushing myself to go as far as I can, talking to my precious Savior, and finishing my run knowing I used the very energy that my God has provided me.

I think life is really similar to running. You have good days and bad days. Sometimes you don’t feel like running or you want to give up halfway, but you keep on persevering and pushing with all that you have. The reward at the end, the accomplishment is what matters. Some days you have to remember to look at whatever is around you, no matter how mundane or simple the scenery is and embrace the beauty that is right before you, because if you don’t stop to look around you miss the chance to see the amazing places you were at.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not boasting because I am very very far from being a serious runner. I just thought I’d encourage you to maybe suit up your laces, whether its in life or on an actual run. Keep pushing yourself to do your best, but at the same time remember to stop and smell the roses and enjoy each step you’re at. When you want to quit, don’t. If you have a bad day, try again tomorrow. Just remember that it’ll be worth it in the end, but for now just keep on keeping on.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

Keeping on,
Grace

As a part of Mother’s Day our children at True Life Church held a feet washing ceremony for the grandmother’s ages 60 years old and older. They made cards written in Hmong and planted flowers a month ahead of time to give to all the grandmothers at our church. What a humbling experience that I was just overjoyed to watch and be a part of. The gap between two completely different generations were able to intertwine and learn of their love for each other all because of the example that Jesus himself had set for us. Many times we forget that we are called to serve one another no matter how young or how old we are.

If you believe in who Jesus is, God’s son, who came down to die for us, who humbled himself to even wash his disciples feet as an example of his servant hood for his people, you would see the significance of washing others feet. To let go of your pride and kneel before another, all to show your love and willingness to serve the other.

He is our example and these children have chosen to follow his footsteps, how amazing!

John 13:12-14

“When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them.“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

So what did I learn from today? To have faith like children, love unconditionally like our mothers, but most of all I was reminded to follow in the ways that Jesus himself has already set for us.

Hope you guys had the chance to do something special for your mom! Whether its serving her or someone else in a way where Jesus has called us to.

With much love,
Grace
